Christmas Cookies
Towards the beginning of December, almost all parts of Iceland has gotten into the Christmas spirit, which mean, little lights decorations everywhere, and non-stop playback of Christmas songs in telly and radio. One weekend, Mamma Solla asked me if i wanted to help her with baking the Christmas cookies, and i was already half way to her place as soon as she said.. cookies! hehehe..
When i got there, all materials and appliances are ready, including a massive cookbook with lots of scribbles on the pages, showing which ones are good and which ones are not. We made 5 different types of cookies that day, one was called American Dreams, chocolate chip cookies, cookies with corn-flakes and raisin, gingerbread cookies, and the last one was called Mary Shelley or something *i cant really remember to be honest*
We spent the whole day mixing batters, scooping dough, placing them on trays etc. For the gingerbread cookies, all of us (including Kári, Sandra, Aron and Haukur) got to shape the batter into whatever shape we wanted. Basically everybody in the house was involved in the process at one point or another. It kinda reminded me of how mum used to make Lebaran cookies at home. One time, she was trying the new "kastengel" recipe, and we ended up making dozens of batches of those.
After all cookies are done, Mamma Solla put them all in cookies tin, hid them well so they wont be finished before Christmas, and gave me a whole tin of cookies for Haukur and i to bring home, yay!
Then it was dinner time, and since we were so busy making cookies all day, Pabbi Alfreð had to get some Chinese take aways for dinner. So, all in all, it was a fantabulous day!
Right, this is at least one post for today.. will write again soon! *slacking* :p
